First time travelling alone...

안녕하세요!
오늘에 저는 혼자가 한국에 왔습니다~
Hi hi from Korea!
Just think that it would be a good idea for me to keep a record of my first solo overseas trip which is the South Korea- 대한민국.
If you chanced upon here, you are most welcome to stay to read on my ranting!
Haha.

Shall skipped the whole airport and boarding part.
Personally feels that there is no difference in whether you are travelling alone or with someone you know.
But that is, if you are the type that needs someone to converse to throughout the plane ride.
For me, I peacefully slept through the 6 hours plus ride and only waking up twice for food! ^_^

While planning for this trip, I was actually more careful in making sure that I have the details to every single place that I intend to visit, maps of that area and of course the most important thing is the accommodation.
Which brings to another story.

Actually, I am not exactly alone for the whole 9 days.
There is Melissa, who is so kind to accompany me when she knows that I will be alone.
However, her annual leave that is left is only sufficient to accompany me for 4 good days excluding the day that she needs to return to Singapore.
Even though that, I am deeply grateful for her gesture as she really did it out of goodwill.
정말 고마워요!!!

Anyway, I actually got the first scolding from her before the trip.
Because, I DID NOT manage to get her a direct flight ticket with me!
And so, she had to start her trip early in the night (1am) which has to transit at Hongkong (Cathy Pacific) at seats which she hates and plus waiting for me at the Incheon International Airport for 3 long hours, all due to me.
미안네요!

And the second scolding came when we realise that we had to walk a distance from the airport bus stop to our guesthouse (JK house in Seoul).
What makes it worst is, I cannot see all the obvious signboards which will direct us to the guesthouse.
I guess now I understand why everyone is worried that I am travelling alone.

But we made it through the first day!
Although the room is disappointingly small, but I guess it will be good enough for us at the time being.
I think the best point of the guesthouse is that it is situated at Sinchon (신천).
It is at the center of several universities, namely Yonsei, Ewhwa and Hongik.
Lots of shopping and Hof that opens late into the night.

So, after settling ourselves down at the guesthouse, we went for dinner.
I decided that we should go for 안동찜닭 (Andong Jjimdak).
Something I heard before on the internet and the tv that is nice.
But clearly our palate are a bit more fussy.
It actually tasted like black pepper chicken with lots of potatoes, onions, cabbage etc.
The taste is not that strong but goes well with rice.

This is the place where we had the 안동찜닭.
I seriously thought it will be good as it was bursting with customers!

The whole dinner including 반찬 (banchan).

Close-up of the 안동찜닭.

After dinner, we roamed the streets and keep walking up and down through the different alley.
Will put in the pics later when my phone is able to transfer pictures to the computer in the guesthouse.
Planning to go Hongdae market tomorrow and maybe Myeongdong or Dongdaemun after that.
Hopefully I can keep up with the habit to update daily!
