Day 2- HongDae 혼대 Part 2!

Continue on day 2- HongDae tour!

Anyway, while we were trying to walk back to the subway, we were past this 노래방(Korea version of "clean" karaoke) and we saw some people pointing and laughing by the roadside.
Apparently, there is this boy who is so engrossed in dancing for the public in-front of the big window facing the main road while his friend sings!

He was like dancing to Wonder Girls' "Nobody" at the time when I was taking the video.
It was so hilarious of him.
I seriously wonder he did that because he really wanted to or he did not know that people can see him from the outside!

And so, while we were trying to find our way, we accidentally found the flea market that we intended to go!
The stretch of stalls next to the flea market.

Before we actually went to walk around at the flea market, we went inside this spectacles shop as Melissa wants to look for sunglasses.

This is the shop we went to.

And she indeed got her sunglasses!
Nah, just joking!

This is Melissa who is very happily trying her new sunglasses.
As for me, I did bought something.
I made a pair of new 안경(glasses)!
It is the first time I ever made glasses out of Singapore and its at a foreign language country!
I feel so proud of myself.
But actually, that is because the lady who made the glasses for me spoke English.
Lol.

My new glasses.

Me and my new glasses!
어때요 (How is it)?
예뻐요 (pretty)?
I actually wanted to change a new pair of glasses for a long time just that I did not have the time and money to do it.
It is so cheap to do it here than in Singapore.
I got it for 90000won!
Of course it is not those kind of crizal or special lenses.
But I am happy with what I have.
It is already good enough for me.
It is a thin lens which I got it done in ONE hour!
Sounds amazing to me for something so cheap.

Anyway, we went to walk around the flea market while waiting for my glasses to be ready.

The famous graffitti wall in HongDae.

The flea market.
There is supposed to have live bands performing there occassionally, however, I think by the time we got there that day, it was too late and they all went home!

The famous playground where the flea market is held at.
If I don't remember wrongly, it is also the scene where 장근석(Jang Geun Suk) and 문근영(Moon Geun Youn)g always hang out in "매리는 외박중(Mary stays out)".

After roaming the area and collecting my glasses, we begun our long adventure back to the subway!
Apparently, we decide not to walk back the route we came from and it was definitely a bad choice.
Because we got lost!
The people we asked could not understand English.
And I didn't bother to ask them in Korean because I am very bad in understanding directions in Korean.
But in the end, we still got back to the guesthouse in one piece.

We had to rest for a while before getting dinner because we walked so much that day!
We decided to have barbeque that night as Melissa had been craving for it since the time we arrived.
We went to this shop where they have this vacuum on top ofthe barbeque so that we will not stink after that.
But Melissa is still disappointed because this shop does not have beef!

Their menu in complete Korean.
I had to ask them for help as I cannot fully understand what I was reading.
Fortunately, they have a small menu with English words.

Our barbeque!
Yummy spicy and non-spicy 돼지고기(pork).

Melissa taking care of the food while I snap away.

As per "customary" (for me and maybe Koreans, lol), we have to drink!
I got this 막걸리(Makgeolli) thinking that it will be be sweet and easier to drink as per past experience.
But I was WRONG.
I think it might be because that it is 생막걸리(raw makgeolli).
Anyway, I polished up about three quarter of the bottle as Melissa does not like the taste of it.

We also had a 된장 찌개(Doenjang jjigae) to go along with our food.
I cannot explain the affection I have for the various types of 찌개(stew).
They can easily let me finish up an entire bowl of rice despite me not being a fan of rice.

After dinner, we walked around the streets near the guesthouse(again!) as I looked a bit red from the drink.
I went to play with this balloon and dart thing.
I managed to get a white teddy bear after spending 10000won and advice from Melissa.
(Throw it at the areas more filled with balloons!)

Isn't it cute?
I named it BiBi because it is "bek bek" (white in hokkien) but Melissa keeps calling it Ah Bek!

Continued walking around the area with new found buddy, BiBi and I wanted to eat 빙수(Shaved ice-similar to ice-kacang).
I bought a 베리 빙수 (berry shaved ice).

My 빙수 and Melissa's ice-cream at the back.
I had to and managed to finish one all by myself as Melissa does not like berries.

A very happy me!

That sort of concluded our day 2 as we went back to our room after the desserts.
Next post will be on my accommodation, the JK house in Seoul!
안녕히 주무세요!
